Seniors
Day @ Shoppers
22 June 2015 – Monday Night – 7ish
I’m tired. I was finished at the gym. I wanted to get home to dinner and a bout of relaxation in front of the tube before shutting it down for the night. My work starts early each morning – I’m up before 5. Before home I needed to make one quick stop. I was out of toothpaste. The stop was at Shoppers Drug Mart on Homer at Nelson – after I would continue my leisurely stroll the 1.5 kilometers to downtime. Tube in hand I went to pay – oblivious to those around me. I placed my item on the counter. The clerk, I won’t describe his physicality, what I will say: he was somewhat a product of our times, definitely not fit – stretching mostly toward soft – with a voice that whined – dripping in condensation. Did you find everything you need okay? He asked. |
I looked back at him thinking: I only have toothpaste. The question struck me as odd.
Yes.
Seniors day is on Thursdays. There is a 10% discount on for seniors.
His comment took a second to sink in. I was perturbed.
What? I said with a touch of confused attitude.
Don’t forget to come back on Thursday for the discount.
All the way home I kept thinking: What a dick.
