Winters Coming
I was walking on Jervis Street toward Pendrell.
Crows were cawing.
“Caw. Caw.”
A little dog was barking.
“Ruff. Ruff.”
At the corner in front of a church, an elderly lady sat on a bench. I'd guess she was about 90. I was going to say 85, but I think 90 sounds funnier. She was trying to comfort her barking dog by petting it. She wore glasses, with one lens covered in black duct tape.
She was speaking to her dog. “Never mind them; they are just doing what they do. And besides, winter is coming soon, and they will be gone for a few months—making this less stressful for you.”
